The student government meeting on Thursday, Sept. 10 began with a roll call; all officers were in attendance. Approval of last week’s meeting minutes passed with a vote of general consensus. Similarly, the approval of the current week’s agenda also passed with a vote of general consensus. Student Government Advisor, Kris Motta Torok, gave a presentation on the proper use of Robert’s Rules to assist first-year senators. Robert’s Rules of Order are in place to make club meetings more efficient and professional. They protect the equal rights, obligations, and privileges of all members of the organization.

There was one piece of old business to attend to. The fall election packet was tabled at the last meeting; this week, a motion was made for its approval, which passed 9-0-1. The election packets were sent out to the student body via email on Friday morning. Completed packets will be due by 5 pm on September 18^th, with elections to follow on September 24^th and 25^th. There are five upper-class and three first-year senator positions available.

The organization moved on to new business. Two new clubs were presented for tabling. The Culinary Arts Club and Behrend Communal Kitchen will have representatives at the next meeting, at which the student government will vote on a recommendation of approval. The tabling will allow senators to review the proposed clubs’ constitutions before next week’s meeting.

Executive Board Reports:

President Napierski announced two upcoming speakers who will be attending student government meetings. Chancellor Ford will be at the meeting on October 8^th, and Mike Linder, the Director of Housing and Food Services, will be at the meeting on October 29^th. President Napierski encouraged senators to review the Strategic Plan for 2026-2030 and to represent Behrend at All-U Day on October 31^st.

Vice-President Sawani Shinde is working on organizing cabinet meetings for the semester.

Treasurer Owen Kagle announced that the Student Initiated Fee (SIF) proposal deadline has passed and that the committee will meet Monday, Sept 14^th at 4 p.m.

Chief-of-Staff Michael Del Signore continues to work with prospective clubs.

Staff Reports:

Constitutional review head Bridget Culley had no report.

Public relations head Dorcas Amunazo had no report.

Recording Secretary Mirabel Valsechi had no report.

Programming Affairs head Kalliyah Wright was unable to attend Thursday’s meeting, but encouraged any students who had questions about the election packet to email her at kqw5634@psu.edu.

Council Reports:

The Multi-Cultural Council position remains open.

The Panhellenic Council position remains open.

Interfraternity Council representative Eli Sloan reiterated that the LinkedIn workshop will be Monday, Sept. 21^st in Burke 001. He also noted that the council will be amending the constitution with a proposed change to six justices.

University Faculty Senate representative River Smith had no report on the EECE meeting but encouraged senators to reach out with questions.

Cabinet Reports:

Academic Affairs head Abiha Talpur had no report.

Diversity, Equity and Inclusion head Tina Yu was absent and thus had no report.

Student and Community Affairs head Aidha Jaudat had no report.

Student government meetings are on Thursdays at 4:30 and are open to all Behrend students.
