Valentine’s Day is less than two weeks away, and as the holiday approaches, several events marrying the romantic and the literary are cropping up throughout Erie. This short list will hopefully inspire Behrend’s readers and romantics to enjoy some of the wonderful celebrations Erie has to offer.

Galentine’s Day at Werner Books & Coffee

Announced in their Feb. newsletter, Werner Books will be hosting a Galentine’s Day celebration on Saturday, Feb. 7, from 1-4 pm. This event will be free to attend and require no RSVP. Local shops such as Steph Sprouts, Stitches of Erie, and Charmains Custom Creations will be offering ready made goods including plants, crafting supplies, and handmade headbands, respectively. Several featured vendors will also be providing exciting and personable experiences ranging from tarot readings to wine tastings. In between browsing vendors, swing by Werner’s cafe for a taste of their winter menu and have a look around their constantly changing stock of new and used books!

Book Lover’s Sale

This Valentine’s weekend, the Blasco Library will be hosting their first book sale of 2026. With the help of the Friends of the Erie County Library, the Book Lover’s Sale will run from Feb. 12-14 between 10 am-6 pm, 10 am-4 pm, and 9 am-3 pm.

Like their previous book sales, shoppers can expect to find a wide range of affordably priced and gently-used books, CDs, DVDs, and puzzles. As inventory is frequently restocked, new and unique finds can be found all throughout the sale, so come and support your local library!

Wuthering Heights Movie Premier

Emily Brontë’s gothic classic Wuthering Heights will be receiving its much anticipated film adaptation on Feb. 13 to theaters worldwide, including our local Tinseltown. Directed by award winning filmmaker Emerald Fennell (director of Saltburn, Promising Young Woman, etc.) and starring BAFTA nominees Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi as Catherine Earnshaw and Heathcliff, ‘Wuthering Heights’ is sure to be an immersive and darkly obsessive reinterpretation of Brontë’s original novel. With the film seemingly focussing on the more romantic and dramatic elements of Brontë’s novel, both the literary critic and the hopeless romantic can enjoy this upcoming premier.
