SLIPPERY ROCK, PA- On Saturday, April 6, in their second meet of the outdoor season, the PSB Men’s and Women’s track and field teams competed at the Slippery Rock University Dave Labor Invitational.
On the women’s side, Senior Madison Kappeler from Cecil, PA, tied for fourth place in the pole vault and finished 18th in the 200m dash with a time of 26.98. Julia Balaski of Mercer, PA, secured fifth place in the javelin with a throw of 116-6.
Lindsey Hartle, representing Pittsburgh, PA, dominated the 5000m race, crossing the line first with a time of 19:29.87. Ivy Laffan from Waterford, PA, had a solid 10th place finish in the 400m dash at 1:02.86. Haley Felton of Midway, PA, tackled the 400m hurdles, landing a respectable 16th place at 1:15.63.
On the men’s side, Senior Dan Dabrowski, representing Harborcreek, PA, unsurprisingly dominated the field events, clinching first place in the discus throw with an impressive distance of 161-1.
Kody Klein from North East, PA, had an impressive fourth-place finish in the 800m, clocking in at 1:57.71, while Aidan Domencic from Cranberry Township, PA, secured sixth place in the 3000m steeplechase with a time of 9:56.73.
In the high jump, Samuel Hetrick from New Bethlehem, PA, and Derek Hillhouse from Erie, PA, soared to second and third place respectively, clearing 6-4.
Matthew Laslavic from Evans City, PA, showcased his skills with an eighth-place finish in the javelin, throwing 167-1, closely followed by Aiden Grieneisen from Brockway, PA, in 10th place with a throw of 165-0.
Throwers Alex Cotton from Saxonburg, PA, and Hayden “Patty” Travers from Henrietta, NY, put in solid performances, finishing 12th in shot put and 10th in hammer throw respectively.
The Lions relay teams also made their mark, with the 4×4 team of Klein, Jake Walden, Aidan Seeman, and Dominic Marino clinching third place with a time of 3:30.50. Meanwhile, the 4×1 relay team of Hetrick, Marshall Nock, Brandon Konieczki, and Jake Egizio secured eighth place with a time of 46.53.
Looking forward, the teams gear up for their next competition at Westminster for a two-day meet starting Friday, April 12 at 4 p.m.
