• Focus on Your Improvement

For college students, finding an internship, a co-op, or just a part-time job can be quite difficult or discouraging. You can apply to a number of positions, but can only hear back from a few or none at all. Rejection or not hearing back can make you feel unworthy or unqualified and can make you question your worth or abilities. All of these feelings are so valid, but a good distraction for this is to just focus on your small improvements. You are already taking great steps in even applying for jobs and just getting your resume out there. You can polish up your resume, LinkedIn, or portfolio so they can look better to employers. And it will remind you of all of the skills you have and will give you some sort of a confidence boost.

  • Take Time Exploring

If you are waiting a while for companies to get back to you, take the opportunity to explore more options. Even if jobs don’t look like they are in their field, there could be transferable skills for the position that you can use. Explore more things and interests that you enjoy and try to find more jobs you would be happy with doing. And enjoy the downtime you have while you are not working. Give yourself time to relax without worrying about work.

  • Self-Care is Key!

I know job searches can be very stressful, but it is important to not beat yourself up during it. Make sure you are still looking out for yourself and your mental and physical health. Keep up with your hobbies and your interests. Self-care will boost your confidence and will make you feel better about yourself in the long run.
