If you are anything like me, I do not know much about football. I have never really been a sports girlie. But, I still like to watch the Super Bowl and the main reason why I watch is for the music performances. So, here are my opinions on all of the musical performances shown during Super Bowl LVIII.
Let me just say, seeing Post Malone sing “America the Beautiful” was not on my 2024 bingo card, but I am not disappointed that I saw it. Post Malone’s singing voice is very underrated, I think he sounded amazing.
I had never heard of Andra Day before her performance of “Lift Every Voice and Sing,” but maybe I should listen to some of her songs because I really enjoyed her performance and I thought she sounded great.
I was very excited when I heard that Reba McEntire was singing the National Anthem. Her country twang singing voice sounded so nice on the song and I love when people put new spins on that song because we have heard it a million times.
Of course, I have to discuss Usher’s halftime show performance. To be honest, I am not the biggest fan of Usher. I do not have anything against him or anything, but I have just never been super into his music. I think his performance was fine, I was not super impressed by much, to be honest. He was good, I just do not think it was amazing. However, I love how he brought out so many guests who have collaborated with him throughout his career. I was pretty excited to see Alicia Keys for a duet of “My Boo.” She is a gem. He also had H.E.R, will.i.am, Lil Jon, and Ludacris join him on the stage for some chart-topper performances. Everybody, including me, was surprised that Justin Bieber was not one of these guests. Regardless, I enjoyed seeing the people that were there performing with him.
Whether it is the football, the music performances, the commercials, or all of the above, any reason to watch the Super Bowl is a valid one.
