The “biggest night in music” was recently held this past Sunday on February 4. As a huge fan of music and pop culture, of course I have some things to say about how the night turned out.

Obviously, I have to mention the giant, record-breaking elephant in the room… Taylor Swift. The woman has done it yet again and made history with her fourth Album of the Year win for “Midnights.” She is the first person ever to achieve this. Earlier in the night, she won Best Pop Vocal Album for “Midnights” as well (which was her 13th Grammy) and announced that she has a new album coming out on April 19 titled “The Tortured Poets Department.” As a Swiftie, I am very excited about this news and her achievements. However, since she did win Album of the Year, I feel like Best Pop Vocal could have gone to someone else. Speaking of…

I was really rooting for Olivia Rodrigo to win some awards, since I really loved “Guts” and it was nominated for six Grammys so I was sure it would win something. Nope. Nothing. I was very disappointed because I feel like her recent album very much deserved some wins and it was disheartening to see her walk away with nothing. Not saying that other winners did not also deserve to win, it just would have been nice to see an album I absolutely love getting a win as well.

However, I was ECSTATIC when Miley Cyrus won her very first Grammy! I cannot believe she has not won a Grammy before the other night. She won the awards for Record of the Year and Best Pop Solo Performance and it has certainly been a long time coming for her. She won the award for her song, “Flowers,” which had so much love and gained so much popularity last year. Her speech accepting her award was so cute and sweet and it is so heartwarming seeing her come such a long way since her Disney Channel days. And she accepted the award in her fifth outfit of the night. Slay.

For all of my pop punk fans out there, Paramore finally took home some Grammys! They won Best Rock Album and Best Alternative Music Performance for their album, “This Is Why.” It is very much well-deserved and was also a long time coming for the band.

Billie Eilish got a win for Song of the Year for “What Was I Made For?” from the “Barbie” movie. This song has been getting so much praise and it is so deserving of all of it. This song has resonated with so many people, including me, with its songwriting and message and I think the recognition it is getting is amazing. Eilish was very humble in accepting the win and I love that about her as well.

So many other moments and performances happened this night, but I wanted to focus on the award moments that were the most notable to me personally.
