Reemerging online is an old Disney rumor that the company has bought the rights to the oldest book in history, the Bible. A popular trend on the social media platform X, which used to be known as Twitter, claimed that Disney had bought the rights to the Bible.
Without a doubt, Disney is one of the world’s most influential and wealthy companies. But it is mocked by its fans at times. Marvel fans have sometimes stated that it had ruined their favorite film franchise. Avid Disney viewers might wonder why the company is making them watch all these television shows to keep track of what is happening in a movie. But then some people claim that it is ruining myths and legends by swapping essential characters. But all this information leads to the question of how the rumor of Disney buying the Bible started.
While this rumor has been around for a long time, it has recently reemerged on social media. According to Hindustan Times, “its modern iteration seems to be inspired by an article on parody website Babylon Bee 2018 that claimed Disney had bought the rights to the ‘Bible from its Author’ for 7.02 billion.”
This so-called parody website also stated that in 2020, the company was planning to release a significant Bible sequel. A video on TikTok was released, which tried to reinforce a few of the claims that Babylon Bee made in their articles. This TikTok video has now gone viral.
However, due to the different variants of the book, the Bible can not be bought even by a company that is as powerful as Disney.
