Penn State Behrend women’s soccer team emerged victorious in a thrilling match against Allegheny, winning 2-1. Senior midfielder Mia Zec played a pivotal role in the win, scoring both goals for Behrend.
Zec’s first goal came in the 22nd minute, courtesy of a precise pass from Lizzie Hoff. Zec displayed excellent technique, executing a sliding shot off a left-footed cross from Hoff to give Behrend the early lead. Hoff also had an opportunity to score within the first two minutes of the match but was denied by Allegheny’s goalkeeper, Kari May.
In the second half, Zec secured her brace with a penalty kick in the 65th minute. Her goal proved to be the game-winner, as Behrend held on to claim victory. Zec’s impressive performance showcased her ability to deliver in crucial moments.
Elle Carpenter expertly converted a penalty kick, directing her shot into the top right corner of the goal. This moment of brilliance gave the Gators a much-needed boost and set the stage for an intense second half.
Behrend goalkeeper Riley Morningstar played a vital role in securing the win. She made five crucial saves throughout the 90 minutes of action, displaying exceptional shot-stopping abilities. Morningstar’s remarkable performance continued her impressive season, adding to her tally of three wins so far.
