ERIE, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend men’s water polo team faced a challenging final regular season doubleheader, resulting in a loss to Gannon and a nail-biting defeat to Mercyhurst on Saturday, November 11th.

In the first match, Gannon demonstrated their dominance with a final score of 24-17. Gannon’s victory improved their season record to 10-9, while Penn State Behrend concluded the regular season at 7-22. Key moments from the game included a remarkable performance by Eli Anderson of Encinitas, CA, who led the Lions with five goals, including a hat trick in the second period. Junior Eugene Kruger from Pleasanton, CA, contributed four goals, and Justin Brown from Healdsburg, CA, delivered three goals. Jack Holl of Greenwich, CT, added two goals to the scoreboard, while Ryan Carpico of Skippack, PA, Chase Cordon of Canyon Lake, CA, and Ryan Kenney of Skippack, PA, each recorded a goal apiece.

In the second match, Penn State Behrend took on Mercyhurst and displayed resilience by taking an 8-7 lead going into the third period. However, Mercyhurst fought back and secured a narrow 12-11 victory, improving their record to 4-19, while Penn State Behrend finished the regular season at 7-23. Once again, Eli Anderson led the Lions with four goals. Carpico and Cordon contributed two goals each, while Cordon, Kenney, and Ethan Friedman of Valley Center, CA, each provided two assists. In the goalkeeper position, Friedman made nine saves, and Leyton Vrono recorded one save during the match.

With the conclusion of the regular season, the Penn State Behrend men’s water polo team now looks ahead to their postseason prospects, hoping to build on their experiences and successes as they aim for a strong showing in upcoming tournaments.
