WOODSTOCK, OXFORDSHIRE, ENGLAND – Four men are being charged with theft after stealing a valuable golden toilet from the birthplace of Winston Churchill.

The toilet was made of 18-carat gold and worth nearly 6 million dollars. It was stolen in 2019 from Blenheim Palace. The said toilet was created in 2016 by Italian artist Maurizio Cattelan who titled the piece ‘America’.

It was installed in the bathroom that was formerly used by Churchill and is fully functional.  Even though four men are being charged with the crime, according to the Associated Press, the toilet itself has not been found.

According to authorities, the four men who are being charged are James Sheen, 39, Michael Jones, 38, Fred Doe, 35, and Bora Guccak, 39. According to People Magazine, Sheen is being charged with burglary, conspiracy to transfer criminal property and transferring criminal property. Jones is being charged with burglary while the other two men Doe and Guccuk are being charged with conspiracy to transfer criminal property.
