MOSCOW, IDAHO – 4 a.m. on the morning of November 13, 2022 was the time that everything changed for the college town of Moscow, Idaho, home of the University of Idaho. Four students at an off-campus house were murdered in the early morning hours. Kaylee Goncalves, Madison Moger, Xana Kernodle, and Ethan Chaplin had lost their lives in the home invasion in those early morning hours.
A new report has been released about that tragic day. According to a report released by AirMail, Goncalves’ father had been leaked information about the two roommates by grand jurors on the case even though his attorney and the father refused to comment. The family had made a statement that claimed that the report was an attempt to get attention and that the roommates were texting each other during the events that happened that tragic night is not true.
The report states that Steve Goncalves’ was told by his grand jury sources that the two surviving girls had been texting each other as the rampage went on. While it is unknown if the other surviving roommate has saw something that tragic night, one of the roommates has stated to the authorites that she had saw someone in the house that night. Fox News reported that “At least one of the surviving roommates saw something suspicious, according to court documents unveiled in January, five months before a grand jury indictment stripped Kohberger’s defense of a chance to fight probable cause used to justify his arrest at a preliminary hearing”. In the affidavid, it was released that the roommate heard Goncalves say there was someone in the house. She had looked out of her room but claimed that she did not see anything.
Investigators have stated that Kernodle was still alive at the time Goncalves and Mogen were killed, since they used her phone to track what she was doing around the time that she was murdered. After the two times that she had looked out of her room during the attack, she saw a masked man leaving the house the third time that she opened her door to look out.
Even though the one roommate claims she heard and saw the killer, the surviving roommates did not call the police until noon the next day. One roommate has agreed to give an interview to Kohberger’s defense lawyers. According to Fox News, police have relied on the sheath, the vehicle and the phone records in the affidavit.
Kohberger is due back in court on October 26.
