GANSEVOORT, NEW YORK – a 9-year old girl Charlotte Sena went missing while riding her bike in Moreau Lake State Park, roughly 50 miles from Albany, New York, on the evening of September 30. She was at the park for a camping trip when she was taken.

She was found alive on the night of October 2, only two days after she went missing. A suspect in connection to her disappearance is now in custody.

New York State police have stated that she was found alive and in good health on Monday, October 2. Even though a suspect has been put in custody, the investigation is still active.

After the child was located, New York Governor Kathy Hochul took to the social platform X to thank investigators and authorities for finding the girl. She has since stated to CNN that the Sena family had received a ransom note at their home. Investigators had used the ransom note that was shown to have fingerprints on it to find the suspect. It has also been revealed that the suspects fingerprints were already in the police database.

Charlotte was found after police searched homes that were associated with the suspect. According to People Magazine, investigators used cell phone pings from where Sena went missing.

Authorities revealed that the man who kidnapped Sena was Craig N. Ross Jr. He had been arrested on April 21, 2017 for a domestic dispute years before kidnapping Sena. Authorities stated that he was found to have applied pressure to the victim’s neck during the domestic dispute back in 2017, and he was charged with criminal obstruction of breathing or blood circulation. According to NBCNews, this charge is a misdemeanor offense under New York State law.

Now, Ross is being accused of kidnapping Charlotte Sena after she was found in his RV trailer. He was arrested the night of October 2 after two SWAT teams had barged into his RV where he was keeping Sena. According to New York Governor Kathy Hochul, Ross’s prints were found on the ransom note that was left at Sena’s parents’ house. The fingerprints had matched data from a 1999 driving while intoxicated incident that Ross was a part of. One of Ross’s neighbors came forward with information that he had approached her 9 year old grandson over the summer while he was playing in her yard. She claims she told the police about it once Ross had been identified as Sena’s kidnapper. She said over the summer when she had approached Ross over the summer, he went running after she started asking him questions about why he was talking to her grandson.

Charlotte Sena was found safe and healthy by authorities. The Sena family refused to comment to mainstream news outlets after she was sent to the hospital to be checked. The authorities are still trying to find a motive to why Ross had kidnapped Sena.
