SONOMA STATE UNIVERSITY, CALIFORNIA – California police have made an arrest in a 40-year-old cold case. After finding DNA that linked the suspect to the crime scene, authorities made the arrest.

June 27, 1983 was when 37-year-old Noelle Russo was found dead in Rohnert Park, near Sonoma State University. Authorities stated that she had been beaten to death.

On October 2, police arrested Alfredo Carretero Jr. 65, for the murder of Russo. According to ABC affiliate KGO, the mother of one of Russo’s friends Dominique Espinosa stated that Russo had vanished into thin air that night after going out with a bunch of friends.

The friends went to a bar together and somehow got separated. The Violent Crimes Investigation unit had decided to dig deeper into the murder of Noelle Russo. They spend years developing people of interest and collecting evidence surrounding the case.

From 2010 to 2023, authorities have submitted items for analysis until they found DNA which matched the suspect. Carretero Jr. was arrested and booked into the Main Adult Detention Facility.Madis
