Comedy shows are shows designed to make people laugh. There are so many out there like ‘Parks and Recreation’, ‘The Office’, ‘Brooklynn 99’, and ‘Friends’. But one of the funniest and best comedy shows is ‘The Middle’. This show premiered in 2009 and ended in 2018.

‘The Middle’ follows an average everyday family’s lives through their ups and downs. The main characters, the Heck family, consists of Frankie, the mom who’s voice actually narrates each episode. Mike, the dad who works at their local limestone quarry. Axl, the oldest son who is selfish, sarcastic, and sometimes a narcissist. Sue, the Heck’s only daughter and middle child who has a happy personality, and is a little bit awkward, and Brick, the youngest son who loves to read and is a fan of fonts. The family lives in the town of Orson, Indiana.

I truly believe that this show is one of the funniest comedies I have seen because of the family’s antics.

One of the funniest bits of the show, is when Sue tried to try out for a sport or club and does not make it but when she does the family has to double check if she actually did make it since she has failed to make a team all of high school and middle school. It seems like a bit mean that it makes fun of children who don’t make sports teams but it is funny due to the fact that Sue even though she does not make the team, she is still so happy and excited to be able to try to make the team. The funniest thing that she makes in the series is her high schools’ mascot while most people would probably think that being a mascot is lame but to Sue it was one of the best experiences for her.

Axl and his friends Darren and Shawn are some of the funniest characters in the series. They create a band called Axl and the Axmen, and a business called Boss Co. One of best sayings of the shows is when Axl uses his name in a sentence like he says phrases like “you just got axed”. Axl freaks out in later seasons when he finds out that his friend Darren is dating his sister Sue. Even though he is super mean to Sue in the first few seasons of the show because he goes on to call her a loser and pretend she doesn’t exist during school. They do have a great brother-sister relationship later once they both go to college. Once he goes to college, Axl does grow up a bit and learns that he has to be more nicer to his family.

The show is a great representation of a family and the crazy lives that families have to go through. The characters in the show and what they have to go through make the show so humorous. I truely believe that “The Middle” is one of the best comedy shows that I have ever seen.
