Penn state launched the ‘all-in-one’ mobile app PSU Go in Jan. of 2020, just prior to when the covid-19 pandemic hit and made a functional online presence all that more important. The mobile app aimed to provide students with campus-specific information, as well as convenient access to all of their coursework and necessary resources in one simple location. Penn State has also now launched the PSU Go Desktop version for World Campus students, and will hopefully expand the program to all campuses over the next few months.
Many other features were added to the app since its initial launch, with events such as Welcome Week taking advantage of the interactive interface. It took until August of 2020 to finally release the faculty and staff version of the app, as it was initially primarily focused on student-use during the pandemic.
The app is even complete with mobile ordering, allowing you to have your coffee already ready and paid for in a building when you arrive for class, or even having your food begged up and ready to take back to your dorm as soon as you walk by after class. This feature has only gotten better since its launch, with the menu of items available by mobile order increasing.
The new web version of the app will include unique new features including Starfish alerts, grades and favorite courses, canvas announcements, Lionpath alerts and to-do list items, and even more.
The Appademy Awards are a set of awards that recognize the best apps designed in higher education. According to the PSU’s website, “The Penn State Go Web version took first place in the 2022 Best Desktop Experience category at the fifth annual Appademy Awards presented by Modo Labs.”
Some other current notable features of the PSU Go app include access to a map of your campus, safety information for your campus, PSU academic calendar, news for the campus, a full menu for all the dining facilities on-campus and so much more.
World Campus students can currently access the Penn State Go web application via a computer as go.psu.edu/worldcampus.
