Penn State Behrend Baseball swept a doubleheader against Pitt-Bradford on Wednesday afternoon on April 24, in Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference, AMCC, winning 10-3 and 8-2 respectively. Penn State Behrend baseball squad has moved to 14-13 in the season with five of its victories occurring in the AMCC conference. On the other hand, Pitt-Bradford maintains a 6-21 overall record and 3-7 in the AMCC conference.

The Lions started off with a 10-3 victory against the Panthers in the first game. The game was at a stalemate until the bottom of the fifth inning, where Penn State Behrend exploded with eight runs to take a 10-1 lead. Evan Bromley pitched 5.2 innings to secure the win for the Lions, while Chase Palmer hit a grand slam to make it 10-1 in favor of Behrend. Although Pitt-Bradford managed to put up a fight by scoring two runs in the sixth inning, it was too little too late for them as they were already too far behind. Silvio Ionadi registered a pair of hits and two RBIs, while Palmer registered three hits, to give the Lions an edge in game one.

Moving to Game Two, a better outing for the Panthers was expected, as they looked to turn their misfortunes around. However, the Lions were determined to make a statement, and they handed the Panthers their 10th straight loss of the season. Penn State Behrend used 11 hits to score eight runs in the nine innings of play to secure the 8-2 victory over their rivals. Ethan Tinker pitched 7.1 innings, striking out four batters, while Mac Ciocco had three hits and two RBIs to lead the way for the Lions.

Penn State Behrend took the lead in the second inning of game two, following a double by Silvio Ionadi and a single by Ciocco. Similar to the first game, Behrend built on their lead later in the game, scoring four more runs in the sixth. Pitt-Bradford managed to get onto the scoreboard in the seventh inning, but Behrend responded by adding three more runs on three hits.

Stouffer doubled and then scored on Ciocco’s single to the left-center. Pinch-runner Jacob Weckerly advanced to third on a passed ball and scored on a single by Palmer. Later, Palmer advanced home on a throwing error to make it 8-1 in favor of Penn State Behrend. The Panthers added one more run in the ninth inning, but it was not enough to overcome the Lions’ lead.

Overall, it was a strong performance by the Penn State Behrend baseball team, who looked dominant in all aspects of the game. The Lions’ offense was firing on all cylinders, while their pitching and defense were equally impressive. With this win, Penn State Behrend has established themselves as a force to be reckoned with in the AMCC conference, and they will look to continue their success in the remaining games of the season.
