Welcome to the Club Showcase where every week we highlight one of the many extraordinary clubs you can join as a Penn State Behrend student. Today, we are focusing on the Chi Alpha Campus Ministry. To learn more about this club, let us go to our discussion with club President and Student Leader Jake Rose

What is the name of your club? (and nickname if you have one)

“We are the Chi Alpha Campus Ministry, also known as “Chi Alpha” or “XA.”

Does your club have a mission statement? What are your core values?

“We are a Spirit-empowered, diverse community of believers on university campuses, declaring in word and lifestyle our faith in Jesus Christ, equipped to fulfill our purpose in God’s global plan. We reconcile students to Christ, equipping them through Spirit-filled communities of prayer, worship, fellowship, discipleship and mission to transform the university, the marketplace, and the world.”

What is the most significant thing your club does on-campus?

“We act as disciples for students in growing their relationship with Jesus. We accomplish this through our variety of weekly programming:

  • Monday Night Live: Each week we will have the opportunity to come together to worship and hear a brief message from a local Erie pastor or one of our Chi Alpha Campus Pastors. After service we will head down to the Chapel Living Room for time to get to hang out and meet others in Chi Alpha
  • Diving Deeper: A weekly Bible study aimed at cultivating habits of reading and studying the Word of God to deepen our faith as individuals and as members of the Christian faith.
  • Girls’ or Guys’ Life Group: During our time together we will catch up on our weeks, read the Bible, have discussion about it, and pray together.”

Do you have any upcoming events currently planned? If so, what events and when?

“On April 28 at 6 p.m. we will be hosting an end-of-year party in collaboration with CRU.”

How can a student get involved with your organization?

“The best way for a student to get involved in Chi Alpha is to come to our Monday Night Live service in Reed 117 on Mondays at 7:30 p.m. They could also come to life groups. Chi Alpha can also be contacted on all social media and through behrendxa@gmail.com.”

And that was the Chi Alpha Campus Ministry. If you are interested in joining, make sure to reach out to Jake or the rest of the club’s E-Board for more information. We will see you next week for another installment of Club Showcase!
