The beloved ‘Ted Lasso’ has returned to Apple T.V. for its third season, with fan favorite characters returning to make an impression. Some character relationships are clearly going through turmoil, so it will take some time to reveal which dynamic-duos will make an impression this season. Additionally, this is set to be one of the most high-stakes seasons yet, with the pressure for Richmond to win in the Premier league being at an all-time high.

For example, as fans of the show likely already know this is sure to be a very tense season for Rebecca, the current owner of Richmond, and Rupert, her ex-husband who recently bought a well-above average rival club called West Ham. Rebecca originally won Richmond in the divorce, as you find out in season one, and was set on publicly destroying the club as a means of enacting revenge against Rupert.

However, Rebecca has grown tremendously, becoming best friends with Keeley, showing up to every Richmond game, engaging with the player, and even attending bonding events. Rebecca has no desire to see Richmond fail anymore, and is more determined than ever to have an excellent season and crush Rupert’s team. Will Rebecca remain calm this season, or is she set to put unprecedented pressure on Ted and the team?

To avoid spoilers, I will not disclose which character relationships in the show are currently facing trouble, but the first episode leaves viewers undeniably in search of more information. Ted Lasso also seems to be in for another emotional season himself, after calling his son at home and having someone mysteriously pick up the phone instead.

Coach Beard, a fan favorite who is played by Brendan Hunt, who was featured in one of Behrend’s 2023 Speaker Series events on-campus, returns to the show as the quiet stoic character the audience has come to love. He makes his usual quippy remarks at the team, and seems particularly thrilled by the likely addition of a new member to the team.

Another major change this season is coming to the team’s dynamics, as they debate recruiting a new all-star player to the team. If history is any indication, any new player who possesses an extreme skill is sure to cause Jaimey Tart to suffer a crisis of confidence.

Curiously enough, Roy Kent suffered the same crisis of confidence when Jaimey replaced him on the team. It leaves fans wondering whether the potential addition of a new member could bring Roy and Jaimey closer. Or whether it will further the divide between them.

Will Jaimey have to under-go a Roy Kent situation in which he is replaced as the best man on the team? Will all of the team’s previous relationships pull through this season? Can Richmond actually bring themselves to win a championship and defeat West Ham? The question everyone has been awaiting, will Sam’s restaurant be a success?

Three episodes of the show have aired so far, each one revealing more details about what the team is set to face this season. All of this and more to look forward to as Ted Lasso season three continues to air weekly on Apple TV.
