On Friday, March 17, Taylor Swift had her first show of the Eras Tour in Glendale, Arizona. To coincide the American singer-songwriter surprise released four songs: one unreleased “Lover” single and three new “Taylor’s Version” re-recording singles. These all released right at midnight, in true Taylor Swift fashion.
“All of the Girls You Loved Before” first leaked onto YouTube and TikTok, leading fans to beg Taylor for an official release. Fans were also questioning why she took it off of the “Lover” album. Many indications point to the song’s subject matter: Taylor Swift’s longtime lover Joe Alwyn. The track is about Taylor being thankful for her past relationships with her lover for making him the man he is to her. The song encapsulates the feeling of “Lover” so well and uniquely describes love. It gives off ethereal vibes and makes it feel like you are falling in love. “All of the Girls You Loved Before” proves how well Taylor Swift can write love songs past the generic messages and symbolisms while also making you feel as a listener what she is trying to say with her songs.
Taylor also chose the perfect time to release the re-recordings of “Safe & Sound” and “Eyes Open,” with the latest resurgence of “The Hunger Games” on the Internet. She released these songs as “Red” singles, which makes the most sense based on when they were originally released.
These re-recordings show how much Taylor Swift’s voice has matured over the years and she made her voice and the sounds so much smoother and cleaner. The same goes for the other re-recording she just released.
“If This Was A Movie” is the third re-recording Taylor Swift has recently released. It was originally a bonus track on her “Speak Now” album, but she has released the re-recorded version as a “Fearless” single, which confused the fans. But it is theorized that she released it as a single for “Fearless,” since it is the only song on “Speak Now” she didn’t write completely by herself. It could also be an easter egg for “Speak Now” the next re-recorded album she releases.
As mentioned previously, Taylor Swift just started her new tour and her fans could not be more thrilled. It is the first time she is touring in five years since her “Reputation” tour. Since she announced her tour, people have been making guesses on the internet about what her setlist is going to be, and, well, Taylor did not disappoint. She performed 44 songs from every single one of her Eras and she clocked in a three-hour-long show. Taylor Swift will be performing on her Eras Tour for the next few months and fans are speculating whether or not new music of hers will come out while she is touring. But if she’s not, at least the fans have a few more songs to enjoy for some time. It’s always a great day to be a Swiftie.
