A24’s “Everything Everywhere All at Once” was honored with the majority of the awards at the 29th annual Screen Actors Guild Awards.

“Everything Everywhere” stars Michelle Yeoh, Jamie Lee Curtis and Ke Huy Quan won acting awards in their respective categories. Yeoh and Quan, specifically, both made history with their wins. The film also took home the ceremony’s top prize for outstanding performance by a cast in a motion picture.

Known as the SAG Awards, the ceremony took place on Sunday, Feb. 26 at the Fairmont Century Plaza in Los Angeles, honoring some of the year’s best television and film performances. Unlike the more committee-based voting of other award shows, the SAG Awards are voted on by actors.

During the ceremony, Michelle Yeoh won for best performance by a female actor in a leading role while Ke Huy Quan won the outstanding male supporting actor award. Both of these achievements made history as these were the first instances of Asian actors winning in these respective categories.

With the four awards “Everything Everywhere” took home, the film swept the motion picture section of the ceremony. The only award they did not win was the best performance by a male actor in a leading role for which the film was not nominated. That award went to Brendan Fraser for his performance in “The Whale,” another A24 film.

The SAG Awards did have some minor controversy during the ceremony. When giving out the outstanding performance by a cast in a motion picture award, SAG chose Mark Wahlberg to present. With a well-known history of xenophobic and racially-motivated attacks on Asian people, many in the discourse felt that Wahlberg was a bad choice to present an award for a predominantly Asian cast.

Nonetheless, “Everything Everywhere All at Once” seems to be set to dominate and sweep this year’s Oscars.
