The Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board, known as the PCLB, is instituting a limited-release lottery to allow PA residents to buy tickets to win one of 814 bottles of rare whiskey. All Pennsylvania liquor stores are state stores, as the PCLB runs them.
PA residents will have to enter the lottery for them to win some of these rare whiskey bottles. The PCLB will be holding three kinds of lotteries to release all of the bottles.
The lottery is set to include hundreds of bottles from the Buffalo Trace Antique 2022 release collection. Additionally, it will consist of a handful of bottles of Michter’s Straight Bourbon Limited Release 20-year-old whiskey. The Mitcher’s bottles cost upwards of $1,100 each.
The PCLB will hold three separate lotteries to give out all these different bottles. The first raffle will be for the Buffalo Trace Antique Collection, while the second lottery will raffle off ten bottles of Mitcher’s Straight Bourbon.
The final lottery, which will take place, is for a different liquor altogether. Over 300 bottles of Blanton’s Straight From The Barrel Bourbon will be given out in the last lottery. Buffalo Trace Distillery owns the brand itself.
Regarding the Buffalo Trace Antique Collection, five total types of whiskey are being given away. This will include 480 bottles of rye whiskeys and bourbons, all of which have been aged for a minimum of fifteen years before this raffle and cost upwards of $109.
If participants are selected to win one of the bottles in the Buffalo Trace Antique collection, it is worth noting they would then be removed from winning other bottles within the same drawing. Participants are limited to one bottle per person per lottery.
Bottles in each of these raffles will be allocated to both PA residents and those with liquor licensees. However, the PCLB says a large percentage of bottles will be given to residents than those with licenses.
The three lotteries will be held back-to-back, and participants may opt-in to whichever drawing they prefer or participate in them all. Those interested in participating have until Friday, Feb. 17, to purchase drawing tickets on the Limited-Release ottery web page, which can be found linked to the Fine Wine and Spirits web page.
