Starting this semester, Penn State Behrend’s Personal Counseling department has moved to a new location. Now at home in the newly renovated Erie Hall, Personal Counseling plans to move ahead with some new activities in their new space.
With their wing behind finished ahead of schedule, Personal Counseling moved out of the Reed Union Building and into Erie Hall early this semester. Coming to this space are all the great counselors and receptionists that Behrend students and faculty have come to know and love.
If you have any scheduled appointments with these great individuals, you will now head to their wing of Erie Hall.
To find this section, exit Reed through its main doors and head straight towards the renovated Hall. From there, various signs point down a newly placed pathway that leads students straight to Personal Counseling’s front door. It is located in the South West corner of the Reed parking lot All you have to do then is sign in at the front desk and patiently wait to see your requested counselor.
As always, the Personal Counseling office is always accepting new and returning students. To set up an appointment, you can call the office at 814-898-6504 or stop by their space. Appointments are offered Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. and can be accommodated via Zoom.
For anyone wondering, Behrend’s Personal Counseling office complies with the Family Educational Right to Privacy Act, otherwise known as FERPA. This means that students 18 and older are considered to hold the privilege of privacy to any academic or health records. In essence, personal counselors will not share your personal and private information with anyone other than yourself.
While personal counseling is the main aspect of this new office space, there are a few new additions.
Firstly, the department has created a relaxation area for all students. Equipped with nice, calm lights and a variety of comfortable seats, the room acts as a space for all to destress and calm down. Included is a massage chair that directly faces a TV for your viewing pleasure.
There is also a larger open space that the office plans to use for a variety of activities. Whether it is yoga, artistic escapades, or even drum circles, this space is welcome for all to experience. Personal Counseling will advertise events they host in this new programming space later this semester, so keep an eye out.
With Erie Hall marketing itself as a space for students to work on their physical and mental well-being, the Personal Counseling office feels right at home in its new location.
Once again, Behrend’s Personal Counseling office can be reached at 814-898-6504 or their front desk.
