Welcome to the Club Showcase where every week we highlight one of the many extraordinary clubs you can join as a Penn State Behrend student. Today, we are focusing on the Penn State Behrend College Republicans. To learn more about this club, let us go to our discussion with club president Noah Esper.
What is the name of your club? (and nickname if you have one)
“We are the Behrend College Republicans.”
Does your club have a mission statement? What are your core values?
“To foster political discourse among students on campus while promoting conservative values. While the College Republicans welcome all students of differing political views, the main values of the College Republicans are limited centralized government power, free enterprise, and the preservation of law and order.”
What is the most significant thing your club does on-campus?
“The College Republicans participate in debates with the College Democrats and host political discussions within the club. The College Republicans will also occasionally invite prominent speakers and host on-campus political demonstrations.”
Do you have any upcoming events currently planned? If so, what events and when?
“General Meetings for the College Republicans are currently on Thursdays from 3 – 4 p.m. in Reed 114. This may be subject to change in order to accommodate members’ schedules. Currently, there is a planned date for the debate between the college republicans and democrats which is February 24 at 7:30 p.m. in the Burke Conference Room.”
How can a student get involved with your organization?
“All College Republican events are posted on BehrendSync. Interested students can also be added to the club’s GroupMe for regular updates on planned events and discussions.”
And that was Penn State Behrend’s College Republicans. If you are interested in joining, make sure to reach Noah or the rest of the Republicans’ E-Board for more information. We will see you next week for another installment of Club Showcase!
