Spoiler Alert

“Falling for Christmas” is a romantic comedy released on Netflix on November 10. The film stars Lindsay Lohan, Chord Overstreet, George Young, Jack Wagner, and Olivia Perez. The movie marks Lohan’s first major film role in over a decade.

The film follows a hotel heiress Sierra Belmont, played by Lindsay Lohan. Sierra has been newly appointed as the “vice atmosphere manager” by her father and current hotel owner played by Jack Wagner. He brings her into this faux position at the hotel to properly induct her into the family business.

While at the hotel, Sierra and her boyfriend Tad, played by George Young, find themselves on a mountain’s peak. Tad chooses this moment to propose to Sierra with a nice ring.

As they begin their descent though, the weather takes a turn for the worst and both Sierra and Tad are thrown off separate sides of the mountain. Nobody from the hotel comes looking for them but Tad eventually finds a guide and makes his way back to town.

Sierra awakens in the hospital and cannot be identified. Additionally, Sierra is dealing with memory loss, making the circumstance even more difficult. Jake Russel, who is played by “Glee” alumni Chord Overstreet, was the one who had found Sierra.

He offers her a place to stay at his bed and breakfast called The Northstar Lodge. Sierra, who can not remember her name, starts to go by the name Sarah and tries to adjust to a new life. Sierra learns the lodge is financially struggling and comes up with the idea to have a fundraising party to raise money.

Finally realizing his daughter has been missing, Sierra’s father and Tad start to look for her. At the fundraising party, Sierra’s memories return at the sight of her father and Tad. While the two men had come to take her home, Sierra chooses to stay with Jake, breaking off her engagement.

Overall, the film is a good romantic Christmas movie. Since the film’s release, it has received mixed reviews from critics. If I were to put a rating on this film, it would be 3.5 out of 5 stars.

All actors involved did a great job with what they were given. The film deserves more attention for a Christmas movie than it is receiving. Additionally, it is a pretty good film to mark the return of Lindsay Lohan.
