Welcome to the Club Showcase where every week we highlight one of the many extraordinary clubs you can join as a Penn State Behrend student. Today, we are focusing on Behrend’s French & Francophone Club. To learn more about this club, let us go to our discussion with club president and founder Mikayla MacQuarrie.

What is the name of your club? (and nickname if you have one)

“We are the French & Francophone Club, also known as the FFC.”

Does your club have a mission statement? What are your core values?

We are a space for students at Penn State Behrend to have the opportunity to engage in French and Francophone cultures.

What is the most significant thing your club does on-campus?

Every Thursday in Bruno’s Fishbowl, the club partners with Dr. Frédérique Marty’s French classes for French Table conversations 5:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. Students are encouraged to come and practice their French for an hour every week. We’ve been doing this since the beginning of the semester.”

Do you have any upcoming events currently planned? If so, what events and when?

“French and Francophone Club is having a French movie night with ISO. The date has not been set yet, but students can expect to watch “Le Petit Prince,” “The Little Prince” in English, in McGarvey Commons with French-style mocktails and Brie cheese with bread.”

How can a student get involved with your organization?

“You can attend club meetings and events, find us on BehrendSync, or follow us on Instagram @frenchnfranc_psb.”

And that was Penn State Behrend’s French & Francophone Club. If you are interested in joining, make sure to reach Mikayla or the rest of the FFC’s E-Board for more information. We will see you next week for another installment of Club Showcase!
