Are you looking to watch some sports but do not want to eat the same bland, uninteresting bar food? Are you tired of campus eats and want to try something more unique and original? Well, do I have a place for you. Located on Harborcreek’s Buffalo Rd. is the Harbor House, our focus of this issue’s Local Eats. 

The Harbor House, while singular in its name, is a part of a collection of restaurants all underneath the main label, U Pick 6. Originally established in 2009, U Pick 6 is a collection of pubs that opened its first location on Erie’s Peach St. Since the company’s inception, five more U Pick 6 locations have been founded all around Erie county. While all of them offer some excellent eats, we are highlighting Harbor House today due to its proximity to Behrend, being less than three miles away from campus. 

On U Pick 6’s website, the company says that its main goal is “bringing people together with craft beer & craft beer-inspired eats.” I cannot say much about their craft beer, but I can talk endlessly about their delicious food. Following in its craft beer inspiration, the food offered at Harbor House is far above the quality you would expect from a pub or sports bar. With its wood-fired brick oven and a collection of conceptually interesting sandwiches, there is something for everyone to love at Harbor House. 

When it comes to what I would recommend from this U Pick 6 location, I immediately think of their sandwiches, specifically “The Anniversary.” Thick slices of roasted turkey breast are placed between a toasted everything bagel with bacon, cucumber, provolone, and asiago artichoke dip. The overall flavor that comes from the sandwich is divine, a unique sandwich that has me coming back every time. If that is not your speed, might I recommend Harbor House’s “Signature Sandwich?” Thin-sliced buffalo chicken, smoked gouda, lettuce, tomato, and bistro sauce are served nicely on two pieces of hand-cut and toasted ciabatta bread. 

If you are looking for a nice sandwich or a delicious pizza and are willing to drive a short distance, you cannot go wrong with U Pick 6’s Harbor House.
