After its premiere on Christmas Day in 2020, “Bridgerton“ soared to the top of Netflix’s charts, smashing viewership records and leaving many eager to learn what will happen next to its illustrious titular family. And on March 25, 2022, after more than a year, fans were finally able to find out what “Bridgerton” had in store for its second season.
Dearest Reader, it is time you learn how incredibly interesting yet slow-moving Netflix series Bridgerton’s season two is.
To begin, the new season picks up with Miss Eloise Bridgerton, played by Claudia Jessie, is set to find a match, however, so is the Viscount Lord Anthony Bridgerton, played by Jonathan Bailey. While brother and sister are both set to find someone, it seems Eloise is hell-bent on avoiding every suitor that comes up to her. On the other hand, Anthony knows he must marry to continue the Bridgerton name and “fulfill the duties as the firstborn.”
Anthony does not plan to marry for love as his sister Daphne, played by Phoebe Dynevor, did in season one. He shares what he is looking for in a match; looks, wit and manners of a viscountess.
This season’s diamond is Miss Edwina Sharma, played by Charithra Chandran, and her sister Miss Kate Sharma, played by Simone Ashley, is wary of allowing Edwina to marry Anthony. However, there is more to it than just a simple hatred for a man who is not looking to marry for love. Could it be that Kate and Anthony have their own secrets? And, oh boy, it seems everyone has their secrets. While season two is not as spicy as season one all throughout, that is okay because they added all the spice into episode seven.
Moving on, there is the current Viscountess Lady Violet Bridgerton, played by Ruth Gemmell, who announced very loudly that Anthony would be looking for a wife this season. However, along with Lady Danbury, played by Adjoa Andoh, the two characters have their own scenes that can break from the various sexual tensions with some laughter, mainly in episode six, but they are a great break from the slow-moving match-making.
However, every up this season does have a down. Lady Whistledown makes it clear that in order to save her friend, she must publish the worst thing, one that one would never write about themselves. Now the question is when the cast finds out who Lady Whistledown is, I am not telling you in case you have not seen season one, how will said friend respond?
The only way to find out is to keep your eye out for season three, which Netflix has not announced just yet. However, Netflix did state through their Instagram shortly after season two’s release, Queen Charlotte, played by Golda Rosheuvel, will have a limited prequel series that will dive into the Queen’s marriage to King George. Young Charlotte has been announced to be played by India Ria Amarteifio. With the post, the two pictures used seem to reveal that it is already in production.
Yet what will be next for “Bridgerton?” Hopefully a season three that will continue hopefully to Colin Bridgerton, who could use another good love story.
