On the evening of Friday, March 18, 2022,  the state police had to shut down the area surrounding Beach 10 at Presque Isle State Park due to reports of a man with a gun in the vicinity. Presque Isle State Park Police called in Millcreek Township Police and the Pennsylvania State Police to assist with the situation.

The park was briefly shut down while the situation was resolved. The officers on scene dealt with the man, who was in his vehicle with the gun. Nobody was hurt, and there was no indication that the man was a threat to public safety. The scene was officially cleared around 7:30 p.m. Friday night.

Carrying a firearm in Pennsylvania state parks is only allowed during hunting seasons, or as concealed carry if the person carrying has the correct permits and firearm.
