Constantly looking down

At the ground

Watching the flowers grow

And die

Watching the luscious grass

Turn brown

Witnessing the seasons change from Spring to Summer

Summer to Fall

Fall to Winter

And repeating the cycle

An endless cycle of life and death

Where flora grows

And fauna scurries about

Enjoying the lives they have

Until they’re no more

Your trunk is bent downwards

Or is it backwards like a broken spine

Either way

You’re looking downwards

With a broken spine

Constantly weeping in the pain you’re in

Seeing all forms of life move on

Happily as they go about their days

But here you are

Weeping Willow

Bent backwards or downwards

Looking at the life surround you

Only for you to weep

That you’re not there with them

Enjoying the life

You are forced to witness in pain

In those times of pain

They turn towards you

Weeping Willow

With your bent spine

And comforting curtains

Known as your leaves

To envelope the grieving

In their time of need

So that you too

May suffer with their pain

As your leaves

And bent over position

Can feel as if nature

Is comforting those who have lost

Or are losing

Weeping Willow

Why must you weep so often
