On January 30, Adele indefinitely postponed her Las Vegas residency. Her show was “Weekends with Adele” and she was scheduled to perform every Friday and Saturday, starting January 21 to April 16 at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace. This would be her first live gig after her six-year hiatus.
There are many speculations of why the singer decided to cancel the show, despite her offering an explanation through Instagram. Through the video she posted via Instagram, she explained: “I’m so sorry, but my show ain’t ready. We’ve tried absolutely everything that we can to put it together in time and for it to be good enough for you, but we’ve been absolutely destroyed by delivery delays and COVID – half my crew are down with COVID, they still are – and it’s been impossible to finish the show…I can’t give you what I have right now.”
However, there are multiple TMZ sources that are “connected to Caesars Palace” claiming that the reason for the postponement was due to Adele being “displeased” with production and there were many “disputes.”
Allegedly, Adele was “unhappy with various set pieces, a choir, the sound system, and other items associated with the show.” She felt as if numerous parts of the show “were not good enough.”
Another speculation was that Adele was having relationship issues with her boyfriend of six months, Rich Paul.
This indefinite postponement could cost Caesars Palace $150 million. For now, some of Adele’s slots have been filled by other artists, such as Keith Urban. Her set has been removed from the Colosseum at Caesars Palace.
Fans of the singer could be waiting until October 2022 for the earliest reschedulement. Fans scurried the calendar of who is booked to perform there, and the slots are filled until at least October. If Adele is planning to reschedule for the winter, she needs to reschedule as soon as possible since winter slots are in high demand.
Many fans are upset by this, especially since many spent thousands on tickets and transportation, and are struggling with the lack of information from Adele. Those wishing for refunds through Ticketmaster are able to do so until February 19. Many are patiently waiting for Adele to announce the new dates, but so far there has been silence on the subject.
There is an Adele merchandise store near the venue and people are still able to shop there. Fans who were meant to attend the first show and have already traveled there were still able to pursue the shop.
Some of those individuals were pulled aside from Adele’s team and were able to Facetime with the singer for a few minutes. Those who showed their tickets received a tote-bag that contained an Adele t-shirt, magnets, and a speciality keychain.
Adele tried to make it up to fans as much as she could, but many await for the new dates.
