The Academic and Career Planning Center, or ACPC, is an important tool for students at Behrend that can open a variety of opportunities. The ACPC provides interview practice, resume review, internship and job search help as well as many other things.

In addition to the many things they do in their office, the ACPC hosts a Career and Internship fair every semester. In recent years, they have begun hosting two career fairs per semester, with one being in-person and the other virtual. For spring of 2022 the career fairs will take place on Wednesday, March 16, from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Junker Center for the in-person fair, and Thursday, March 24, from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. for the virtual fair. For more information on registering to attend the Career Fair visit

The ACPC also holds weekly events for students, and emails out a schedule weekly. Each week always includes drop-in times for academic advising and career counseling services. This month they also addressed upcoming summer classes as something to consider, explaining that they are a good option for students trying to catch up or get ahead, but that they do affect your GPA and are typically condensed courses that require effort. If you have an interest in summer classes, reach out to the ACPC to receive advice on what would be best for you. Summer internships are also a valuable, resume building experience the ACPC could assist with.

Each student at Behrend is assigned an academic advisor within their major at some point, but that does not mean you cannot utilize the scheduling services at the ACPC as well if you would like additional advice. Scheduling appointments at ACPC can be made at any point and are an excellent way of preparing for the next semester.

Nearly any preparation a student has to do prior to applying for a job can be done through the ACPC. Most business writing courses at Behrend require students to prepare a resume, and the ACPC offers resume advising. This can be utilized while in a business writing class where resumes are a requirement up until a student graduates and is using that resume to apply for jobs. They will even hold mock interviews and go over the resume with you.

The office also has professional clothing students can borrow, similar to a Cinderella Closet, in order to look their best for interviews and other important events. These clothes are free to borrow and should be returned afterwards to the ACPC for future students who may benefit from them

The ACPC office is on the Upstairs floor of the Reed Union Building and is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The office can be connected at 814-898-6164 or by emailing askACPC@psu.edu
