After almost a year and a half, the wait for “Stranger Things” season 4 is over – well almost, we still have another half a year before it premieres. While season 3 premiered in 2019, the COVID-19 pandemic delayed the production of season 4, but they are slowly getting back on track.

Netflix released the season 4 trailer on November 6 and the trailer is voiced by Millie Bobby Brown, who plays Eleven. During the trailer, she’s reading aloud a letter she’ll send to Finn Wolfhard, who plays Mike. She tells him she’s excited about spring break and that it’ll be the best one ever, then it cuts to all the crazy occurrences that always happen in their lives.

I’m sure I can speak for most fans when I say I’m super excited for the return of Stranger Things, even though it’s still pretty far away. The trailer looks as though this season might have more action than previous seasons, as well as probably having an even worse death than the last season death of David Harbour, who played Jim Hopper.

According to Screen Rant, the latest teaser for season 4 might end the longest-lasting relationship in the show, saying “Since the series began, Netflix hit Stranger Things has not been kind to any incurable romantics in the show’s audience. As a sci-fi horror series, it is no surprise that Stranger Things features its fair share of grisly deaths and tragic moments, but as a nostalgic teen dramedy, the Netflix hit has often set up sweet love stories only to brutally deconstruct them.”

This is true since Joyce, who is Will’s mother, fell in love with Bobby in season 2, he then ultimately died at the end of the season. Then in season 3, Joyce and Hopper fall in love, and he dies at the end of the season.

While looking at the moment when Mike’s reading the letter, you only see him and not what’s around him in his bedroom. Screen Rant suggested this could be because they’re hiding his new love interest out of sight. In season 2, the show introduced Max, played by Sadie Sink, while Eleven was away, but it became clear Mike and Max wouldn’t be a love interest.

Then in season 3 when Mike and Eleven broke up for a bit, the show could point out that the couple has slowly grown apart in season 4 and make the final break up possible. Needless to say, the breakup is possible. It is also possible to allow the couple to stay together somehow, but a long-distance relationship doesn’t always work out.

Either way, fans won’t know what is happening with the couple or their friends until the season 4 release in the summer of 2022.
