What happens when three strangers come together to solve a murder? Well, it all depends on how you see Selena Gomez, Martin Short, and Steve Martin forming a podcast about the dearly departed neighbor Tim Kono.

Only Murderers in the Building is a comedy thriller. While it deals with a murder mystery the main cast does cause some laughs throughout the show.

When it comes to living in a glamorous Upper West Side apartment building, you would think murderers would be the last thing to worry about. Well living at the Arconia seems like something straight out of a Hardy Boys book.

They do have some suspects for this murder, even though the police believe it was just a suicide. The first suspect is Sting, played by real-life Sting. Then they suspect their generous donor, Teddy Demus, played by Nathan Lane. Maybe it was Jan, played by Amy Ryan, who dates Steve Martin’s character, Charles.

However, when you live in the Arconia, the murders, apparently, never cease. The season finale reveals that yet another unexpected victim had met an untimely death inside the walls of the glamorous Upper West Side apartment building.

According to Entertainment Weekly, show creator John Hoffman said the plan for the finale was always to kill Bunny.

“For the characters in the narratives, she was a central point for all of them to look not good at the end, if that’s who the victim is,” Hoffman explained. “So our trio being around her dead body with a knitting needle in her chest pointed the finger at all of them in a way that felt threatening and intriguing. And what was always the intent from when I first pitched the show to Hulu, the ending line of my pitch was, ‘So at the end of the season, our investigative trio now find themselves a prime suspect in a new murder, and the subjects of a new podcast that could be coming out, done by their own mentor.’”

Fans will be thrilled to know that Selena Gomez, Steve Martin, and Martin Short are all returning for season two. It is also likely guest star Tina Fey will have a larger part in season two since it was teased in the season one finale that her character, Cinda Canning, is creating a true-crime podcast about our beloved true crime podcasters.

Rumors suggest that season two will premier in mid-2022, but there is no confirmed date as of right now.
