On Thursday, November 4th, Friday, November 5th, Saturday, November 6th and the following Thursday, Friday and Saturday, the Behrend Theatre will be putting on a production of Bright Star. Bright Star is a musical written by Steve Martin and Eddie Brickell that is set in North Carolina after World War II with flashbacks to the 1920s. It is about the life of a woman named Alice Murphy, who is the head of a publishing company, and the relationship that she has with Jimmy Ray Dobbs, son of the mayor of Zebulon, NC. The musical has received numerous awards and a considerable amount of critical acclaim, being nominated for a Tony and winning a Drama Desk Award for best music in 2016.
