The November election is approaching quickly, and Erie county has begun preparations for ensuring a safe and secure voting process. The county tested the voting machines on Tuesday September 21st in order to ensure that they are working properly on election day.

“We’re actually testing our ICC machines which are actually our central count scanners to make sure that everything was coded properly and that each candidate is read properly in the machines,” said Tonia Fernandez, Elections Supervisor for Erie County, when explaining why these tests are necessary.

The testing was done to evaluate both touch screen voting machines and the scanners. One of the tests performed on the voting machines includes a batch of ballots that have predetermined answers, meaning the bubbles are already filled in. The test ensures that the machines are accurately reading the information being entered on the ballot.

If you have any questions about voting on election day, poll workers are there to assist you and are trained to maintain the secrecy of your vote. If you have questions about voting in the Erie County contact the Voter Registration office at 814-451-6275 or at https://eriecountypa.gov/departments/electionsvoting/
