Being stuck in a long distance relationship can be draining, both mentally and physically. You get stuck in the same routine that gets boring after what…a few months? Relationships are already hard enough without trying to figure out how to see each other or make things work. Here are some simple tips that will allow you to have fun everlasting memories with your boo but also help you save money so you can travel to visit!
- Scheduled Movie Nights: Use the “Netflix Party” Chrome extension that allows you to host a party with video feedback and a chat room. Pick a movie you would both enjoy or take turns picking the movie. The first movie could be your pick, the second movie would be their pick, then the third would be something you both enjoy.
- Weekly Calls: Schedule a time that works well for both of you and set that time aside for you and your partner every week. It could be a phone call, Snap call, Instagram call, FaceTime, or Zoom. It can be a time to catch up on what’s been happening in your lives. Plus, you both have the week to focus on your priorities first without feeling like you’re drifting apart.
- Delivery Dates: This is one to do if you both are financially able to do it. Pick a restaurant you both enjoy eating at. Both of you order your favorite dish from the restaurant using DoorDash, UberEats, GrubHub, or from the restaurant’s app and have it delivered to your partner’s house, or dorm. If you’d like to do it, call each other so you can get their reaction.
- Play 20 Questions: I understand it’s a summer camp game, but honestly, “20 Questions” really helps you get to know your partner more. Start with some simple questions and just keep going. Whether you two have been together for a month or even 10 years, there’s still a lot of questions unanswered, and “20 Questions” will get them answered.
- Make A Playlist Together: Create a playlist that both of you can listen to. Fill it up with music you think the other might enjoy. Give your partner a taste of the music you like. Or you can both create a separate playlist to share with each other. Rather than having one big playlist, create two little ones following the same premise.
- Write A Letter: I get it. We live in a tech-savvy world. We have at least five different platforms we can use to message each other with. So why should you write a letter? It works great if you live in different cities, states, or countries. Letters are a physical memory that can be kept and reread. Don’t fret over how long the letter has to be, just write like you’re talking to your partner.
